Back End Software Developer- Supplemental Income
CodeStream Studios provides turnkey technology education resources and engaging, project-based content that help K-12 students develop critical and analytical thinking skills, apply creative problem solving, build confidence, improve college-readiness, and develop marketable skill sets.
We’re seeking a dynamic individual contributor with a strong background in back end development, networking, and container technologies to join our team as a Back End Developer to help us maintain design, build, and implement features as we scale our educational technology web applications.
About the Role
- Location: Dallas, TX HQ or US Remote
- Type: 1099 Contractor
- Contract Length: 6 months
- Schedule: Part -Time (20 Hours per Week) 9:00 am 0 1:00 pm (CST) Mon through Fri
- Position: Potential for Full - Time Hours
- Salary: TBD, Commensurate with Experience
As a Back End Developer, you’ll…
- Contribute to the development of stable applications, features, and APIs using clean, functional code
- Build, develop, and scale data networks while maintaining data security
- Implement and maintain container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) to enable the operation of an elastic web server framework for cloud applications
- Improve our product quality and codebase by performing QA, testing, and bug fixing
- Document everything with a ridiculously keen eye for detail
- Collaborate with the team to improve our internal development process
About You
You’ll thrive as a Back End Developer if you have:
- A strong technical background. No minimum work experience is required, but ideally 2+ years.
- Strong C# and JavaScript skills
- Comfortability around back-end coding frameworks (ASP.net, Node.JS) and third-party technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases and database management systems (PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with AWS technologies and cloud architecture design concepts
- A preference for simple solutions that can be implemented immediately with a good intuition for what is lasting and scalable.
- A solid ability to learn independently, self-direct, and unblock yourself when encountering challenges
- Comfortability in ambiguous environments with little or no direction
- A way with words when communicating even challenging concepts, and your writing skills (in English) are top notch.
- Comfortability with tools like: Github, Markdown, Visual Studio Code, Google G-Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides), Slack, Zoom, ClickUp.
- The ability to context switch and prioritize among a large workload.
- An openness to change and a willingness to experiment with formats, platforms, and approaches.
- A team player mindset, willing to jump into any aspect of a project to fill a vacuum, no matter how big or small.
- Intellectual curiosity and an enthusiasm for problem solving
- A desire to learn and grow, and have the work ethic to follow through on your ambitions
- The ability to work a consistent schedule and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
You’ll stand out as a candidate if you have:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science
- Professional experience in computer coding as a software engineer or developer
- Experience working in a startup or non-profit environment
- Experience working in a remote environment
